Dr. Derek Rikupar Langstieh is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at Shillong Polytechnic, Shillong, with a strong academic foundation and diverse research portfolio spanning both theoretical and applied chemistry. He holds a PhD and MSc in Chemistry from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, and a BSc from St. Edmund’s College, Shillong.

His research interests bridge advanced computational science and real-world environmental applications, including quantum computing, computational chemistry, density functional theory (DFT), and the study of metal–metal bonding in homonuclear and heteronuclear lantern-type complexes. Alongside these theoretical pursuits, he is actively engaged in applied research areas such as water quality analysis, grey water treatment, pyrolysis of waste plastics into fuels and chemicals, and polymer recycling.

Dr. Langstieh has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications in reputed international journals, with notable work focusing on metal–metal bonding and computational modeling of complex chemical systems. His interdisciplinary approach reflects a commitment to both advancing fundamental chemical knowledge and addressing pressing environmental challenges.
